Woodland Hills cosmetic dentist Dr. Susan Fredericks strongly believes in giving back to the community. She continually commits her time and talents to various charitable endeavors that are close to her heart.
MEND is a poverty relief organization in the San Fernando Valley. Its goal is to provide basic human needs while also giving an average of 38,500 clients a month the tools, training, education, support, and opportunities to attain and maintain self-reliance. Chosen as the California Non-Profit of the Year by Governor Jerry Brown, MEND offers its goods and services free to clients who are below the federal poverty line. It is primarily volunteer driven, and more than 4,400 people have volunteered to implement the organization’s programs.
In addition to representing the organization in television appearances, Dr. Fredericks was honored to be chosen as MEND’s “Volunteer of the Year” in 2012 and is currently on the Member Board of Directors. She spends several Friday afternoons every month volunteering at the MEND Dental Clinic in Pacoima.
Dr. Fredericks is also proud to help shape the minds of the next generation of dental professionals as a volunteer faculty member at the University of California, Los Angeles School of Dentistry. In September 2013, she led a group of 15 UCLA dental students on a trip to Honduras to provide treatment to people with no access to care.
