Types of Technology Available at Southern Cal Smiles
Digital X-rays help Dr. Fredericks learn more about what is going on beneath your teeth and gums. They enable her to detect things like abscesses, cysts, bone loss and benign/malignant tumors which cannot be identified during a regular examination. Digital X-rays expose you to significantly less radiation (up to 90 percent!) than traditional X-rays. The digital images are also immediately processed and available to view in our treatment rooms, so Dr. Fredericks and our technicians can go over the results with you quickly and conveniently.
An intraoral camera is a small piece of diagnostic equipment that helps Dr. Fredericks view and magnify everything that is going on in your mouth. She can take a “video tour” of your mouth, looking for cavities, cracked teeth, plaque deposits, excessive wear and damaged/worn fillings. Early detection is critical to treating these problems simply and swiftly. Another advantage of the intraoral camera is that you can watch a monitor in the treatment room and actively participate in your treatment decisions.
